St. Valentine

St. Valentine is generally thought to have been a Christian Roman priest, who was martyred by the Emperor Claudius Gothicus in 269 AD. Valentine performed marriages between Christian couples which was illegal, he was beheaded outside the Flaminian Gate. (excerpted from Wikipedia)

Romance is a new concept it comes from the word Romanicus meaning “of the Roman style.” The concept came about in the songs of troubadours in the Middle Ages, and it flourished in French literature and art of the 1700s.

Romance is a mental disease that comes from overly concentrating on another person, but it is a disease we like, until your beloved departs with Darlene from the Dog and Duck. Then like St. Valentine, your head falls off and you become slightly unwell.

If you are thinking of romance try to make sure you have not forgotten your glasses, some people hitch up with the weirdest, ugliest people, scary beyond scary. Stuart Wilde
