The Pleiades & Skanda

In astronomy, the Pleiades are an open star cluster in the constellation of Taurus. They are called the Seven Sisters because there are seven hot blue stars among them but in total the Pleiades cluster consists of 1000 stars. They are close just 440 light years away. They formed 100 million years ago.

Pleiades

The Pleiades are a prominent sight in winter in the Northern Hemisphere and in summer in the Southern Hemisphere, and have been known since antiquity to cultures all around the world, including the Māori and Australian Aborigines, the Persians (who called them Parveen/Parvin and Sorayya), the Chinese, the Maya (who called them Tzab-ek), the Aztec (Tianquiztli), and the Sioux of North America.

They stars are revered in many cultures. I talk to them at night because in Hinduism they are linked to the god of war Skanda.

Me and the lads and lasses (the human Aluna fighters) are in a perpetual Armageddon-style war with the ghouls so that is why the Pleiades and Skanda became my friends. The stars are so pretty I love them so much. SW
